Shot out to my spot on the Manukau this afternoon for a couple of hours. They were hot. Gave up on two rods.
Kept 7 probably put back nearly 20 keepers.
First successful trip in my dinghy with the 8hp motor on. Doesn't quite plane 2 up with dive gear or fishing gear. I suspect a 10ft tinny would.
However for a pleasant sunday on the water we got a 46cm snapper and a 31 cm one. a bust off and lots of bait stolen by the craftier fish.
Sorted out a new flounder net over the weekend.
A shorty at 15 metres. Small enough to squeeze into the jetski or kayaks.
Got a rare early dinish at work and realised we had low evening tides.
Shot home, grabbed the lad and a couple of yaks, and off we shot to test out the new net.
A fair bit of weed choked the net up pretty quick, so we had to do short drags.
Seemed to work.
Home in time for her indoors to nab a couple to cook for tea.

On a plane to Blenhiem this arvo will be in the bach by 7pm and fishing tomorrow
Bugger - the weather is looking a bit shite the next few days. Could be quite windy around the centre of the country.
Right got the roof painted today, rods softbaits and lures on boat ready to go fishing tomorrow
Windy says 8–12 kph out round Chetwoods perfect conditions- fingers crossed that holds.
And heard a stag roaring this morning
Left bach 8am heading out to Chetwood islands got there 8.40.
Fishing 24-30m softbaits or lures only. Slow start with a couple gurnard and several cook straight sail fish.
As the sun rose on came the snapper- we got 7 circa 60cm average plus 7 carrots.
Started heading back 11ish and picked up the 2 cod each on the way back in.
Filleting took a while a huge amount of fish now in the fridge - i freeze containers of salt water and put them in the freezer fish bin plus sea water so fish in great condition.
We have 3 neighbours who don’t fish who we share our catch with so nothing goes to waste !
Headed home 12.10pm sea flat as a pancake- windy app is just the bizz

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Fish for dinner to night. Shared the catch with neighbours.
Went outside to the deck a few minutes ago that stag the roared its head off this morning is at it again.
Got my kit together for a walk tomorrow early. They are buggers here though - make a lot of noise but wont reply to roars and quickly shut up when it gets light. But this easters roar they are louder than previous years so maybe they will get more active and huntable rather than spotlight able only.
