    Tied in smaller sizes they do work well fished like a nymph, however they are classed as a streamer fly and are generally fished down stream with a slow retrieve to imatate a small fish.

    Green Orbits and Black or Red Hariy Dogs work well in Hawkes Bay too.

    Hairy Dogs are good at night and also when the water is getting dirty.
    They are my go to flies for the Ngaruroro when it's cloudy and at dusk or into the night.
