    Game Lure Knot

When I the Islands I noticed the knot they used to tie the leader to Raparla , involved a loop and several wraps around . End result was the Raparla can move freely , giving more action . Anyone use this ? and How do I go about this

Yip, works well. I spit on the line so that it tightens up easily without line damage

Get a crimping set up bro, you'll need it sooner or later. I crimp everything down to 100lb if its a trace and even then it gets hard tying some knots. I do tie clinch knots on 180 leaders sometimes but its a bit of a knack to get it to lay right and that's only if I'm in a hurry or the crimp gear at available. .

You can get ally or copper?brass crimps from most fishing shops. You just match the crimp to the mono size or copper for steel wire. I crimp starting at one end if the crimp turning it 180 degrees for each crimp to remove crimp curling. I also run the tag end well past the crimp and melt the end flat, then pull it up to the crimp and crimp it. You can also get rubber tube, plastic coated wire tube or ali loops to protect the mono where the loop is.

ok, thanks for that. similar to my gun line. yesterday rigged a jigging rod with an FG knot to the braid with 130lb around 6m - so would a crimp be a good option for the mono to swivel after that section? then leader / lure etc. cheers

If its for jigging you wont need a swivel just a hearty stainless ring that the assist hook and split ring attach to. Id just do a clinch knot with 8-10 wraps

So pr or fg braid to mono, whatever length trace you want, clinch to ring, add split ring and assist to ring. Then swap jigs by swapping them off the split ring. No need to take split ring off just jig.

Sorry @Gibo. I hate the clinch knot. It is the only knot I have had fail more than once well below the presure I thought it should take (although this may have something to do with the person that tied it). I far prefer the uni knot as it does everything. You can tie it up tight onto something, make a loop, and join lines with it (even mono to braid). And if the mono is heavy (400lb) then the perfection loop is solid and quick to tie. Also I would not use copper crimps on mono as they tend to have sharp edges and can cut into it compared to alloy.
