    Generous

One of the things I really like about NZ is just how genuinely generous people are overall.
I just popped in to a local shop to get a phone number off the owner, and he insists on giving me a bloody great bag of Bluenose steaks from sundays catch. YUMMY MORSELS !!

I agree mate and to be honest the South Island peeps are the most Generous of all, one joker gave me control of his pub while he, his wife and their friends moved to the restaurant. I did bring a few with me and it was 2pm so maybe i was rude to disturb his cuppa.
He said " help yourself, you know how to pour a beer don't ya boy, tv remotes beside the till"
So i marked a coaster for every beer I poured and when he come back at 5pm we had racked up 16 pints, i said here Muzza i'll fix you up he said "piss off i said help yourself" i managed to get him to take my money... Bad move on my part! I then had to have a complimentary shot of every bloody bottle on his top shelf!!!!
Talk about generous and trust worthy to boot.
Never forget that day, its a bit fuzzy at the end but most things in a pub are

Go on Gibo tell the truth. It was really only you that drank the 16 pints.

When I was living outside of New York, my old man came to visit.

I arranged to meet dad at a pub I had not been to before as it was on my way home from work and a 5 minute walk from the train station into the city.

So 4 o'clock, off to meet Dad, hot day, beer drinking weather.

Cruise into the Pub and Dad says wanna beer, sure says I.

He gets of his stool and cruises behind the Bar and pours me a beer...WTF says me, this is not Dunners, you will get in trouble, Nah says Dad, shows me a big bunch of Keys. The Bar owner was off doing Laundry and left my Dad in Charge....unbelievable! Dude was off to a Metallica concert and needed to wash his black T-shirt.

So not just wee towns it can happen

    Cheers

Best bar fight I have ever seen was in the old Junction Hotel in Dannevirke it involved the poker from the fire place, beers were smashed people ducking for cover, fuck it was full on. Something from once were Warriors.

Now the old Junction has been replaced by the warehouse But the top storey of the old pub is located down by the areodrome now.

Many memories from that old pub and is where I met the Mrs.
