Got this big bastard out from snells beach (north of Auckland, out by Warkworth). Tipped the scales at just under 10lb
They weren't all big though
Ended up getting a half dozen other keepers too.

Very nice size snapper. Any other fish or just snapper?

Well done. Good fish. I hope you changed the nap pies on the small one and sent it back to its mum.

Mostly just snapper. Sometimes get a few kawhai or a kingie. No way near as common as the snappers though.
The whole day we were just pulling up small one after small one. We ended up with about 6 keepers between us. Started throwing the keepers back after that as we had enough for a feed... until the big guy came along. Had to keep him.
Big kingies?

Nah I think the last one I caught was out at kawakawa bay. Been a long time though. I only get to go out 5-6 times a year.
The old man has only recently trusted me with the keys to the boat so it's always been trying to fit around his work in the past. Now that's not an issue.
