Good shit. Greedy fucker deserves it. However I get really angry sometimes watching Coast Watch, pillaging fuckwit after pillaging fuckwit getting away with blue murder more or less.. But this dude gets hit that hard when I've seen way way worse every week on the telly on a Tuesday night - did they go after him with a vengeance because he had a nice boat? Wouldn't surprise me after today's HDPA announcement. There's different laws for different people in NZ today, it's really sad..

He deserved what he got Tommy but so do the others that get off with a slap on the hand also deserve what he got.

    Why did he clean them?
Did he hose the lot off?
No prof of where he was because no gps readings were taken?
No excuses he new the law? But if as he said he was sorting them why did not through them over the side as the fishery offices turn up?
I think he was targeted for being open day!
    It's also in stuff!

Years ago now a mates old man had a display battery case, you know a Marine battery with no guts in it.

Apparently it used to get shelled/shucked Scallops put in it before you could shuck them at sea & get stowed like a spare battery, never saw it happen myself....me & boats

Mmmm, I'm not sure on my thoughts on this one. I've seen coast watch and think they get of light and not forgetting most act like absolute arseholes. Where I'm lost on this one is, how many people were on the boat? The numbers sound large but I've been scalloping and we would pull in more than that in a dredge ln one hit and then drop the dredge again, then sort out the last load. Also if you are being dodgey wouldn't you throw them over? I've dealt with maf before and have found them all good bar one, he was a complete f#2kwit which I also had to point out to him. I'm sure there's more to this one, there's no way I would let my boat go without a fight.

too much of a penalty i think, unless he had priors. I remeber a case recently that someone had something forfitted like that, everyone was happy and said they deserved it but something popped up a few months later saying the decision was appealed and overturned. so basically another person getting away with it.
Will be keeping an eye on this one also.

The question being forfiture ...if it was a 12 ft dinghy and a dredge worth 3k would we go ok you got caught...do the crime do the time .....but you were using a 50k launch ....both were being used to commit the same crime...
