    Inflatable Kayak Fishing!

Took my wildly undersized inflatable out for a hoon on the local lake to catch some wildly undersized fish. Great success.

Bloody good eating the old perch.

Try down the creek a bit. (So I have heard) Get them around 3 lb.

I am looking to buy one of those Alaskan inflatables when I am in Canada.
Supposed to only weigh 1kg and I can think of a heap of places it would come in handy.

Quite a twitchy little yak by the way it tracks when paddling. Looks pretty neat.

I've been down the creek a few times, usually get a few more than today... I think the biggest I've got was about 2.5lb.

Yeah it doesn't perform very well, it was a bit of a rushed buy. Still works ok but I'm looking at replacing it with a wider/longer inflatable at some stage.

That's a good perch. Easier to fillet

As usual a very cool vid Gimp. That kayak looked tricky to paddle straight. How do these types of boats go in the wind? That type of thing could be the solution I've been looking for, but needs to be able to handle the odd bit of rough water, wind and a pack full of meat and gear. Plus a bit a fishing as you have shown in the vid. Thoughts?

Perch are bloody good eating and easy to deal with so that you have a fat boneless fillet. Basically skin them first, a bit like dealing with a Leather Jacket. Have been targeting perch locally with the kids this season. Some good fish in both the lower reaches of the Clutha and Taieri systems, my son caught one well over 3lbs and plenty at around 2lb.
