I'm working up in Kerikeri this week and am hoping to have a few hours spare for a bit of land based fishing in the evenings.
Does anybody on here have any recommendations on where to fish and what I might catch as I don't know the area at all.

I've got to get there first Munsey!

Well after a hectic week working in Kerikeri and a very kind offer from Neckshot, that I didn't manage to take up on due to work commitments...
I did finally manage to wet a line, all be it in Tutukaka.
Here are a couple of the results.
Sams carbon copy of mine, caught the day before that went 25kg...his and mine, both personal bests! We put my king back as we had more than enough fish to keep us going! :-)
Sam, who I fished with has told me to come back in the summer...when the fishing is BETTER!!! ;-)
You lucky bastard!!! what a way to finnish the week! good skills man.
Brilliant Matt2308. Great fishing to be had and if you had got off the boat for a dive there are bugs right in the harbour entrance.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

If you go up ther again and want to fish in a similar area get hold of Justin Smith out at Oakura bay he runs fishing charters and knows some really good spots and also hires out boats you can skipper your self for a daily fee + fuel cost I used to hire a boat from him quite a bit while living up there and used to just fish around henry Island or do a drift fish further out had some really good days fishing up there even though most of my fishing up north was land based off the rocks.
