If you want to fish them, tinned corn on a hook will sort them right out.

Just for the record, and cos I like splitting hairs. Koi means Carp. So by calling them Koi carp you are saying Carp Carp

If you want to eat them, it's best to keep them in a tank of clean water with no food for a few days. This gets the grassy weedy shit out of their systems, so they don't taste like mud.
