    Looking after your back yard!

Fantastic News. The community is pissed off with Poaching and will not tolerate it. This sends a strong message that it is not welcome in any of our beaches. There is plenty for everyone of we all stick to the rules.
You will all be interested to learn that this morning, as a direct result of the community watch - at Kairakau beach, Hawkes Bay - MPI intercepted 4 divers returning to their vehicle.
We understand that 94 out of the 97 paua measured were undersized and all 6 crayfish were undersized (including one pack-horse cray).
As a result, 3 prosecutions are thought to be impending, the 4th person, a minor will not be charged.
MPI then donned wetsuits to return the paua back into the seabed - Well done and thank you to MPI !!
Keep those eyes and ears open and keep ringing in anything suspicious to 08004Poachers or 111.

Kairakau, Blackhead, Mangakuri and Aromoana get hammered by bloody poachers every year.

Locals, fisheries officers, police, MPI catch plenty every year.

However due to a water shortage our judiciary one meerly shake a slightly damp bus ticket at them as they no longer acceptivle to hit them with the previously used wet bus ticket.

And yes there would be plenty for all if these theiving bastards were stopped.

    Cheers

Fisheries can seize all sorts of equipment. Boat, vehicle used to tow the boat, dive gear, etc. They can actually really rinse someone

Not setting a very good example for the minor. At least now he can see the consequences

Want to take Mike and our mate from Auckland on a dive at Te Angiangi sometime over the next few weeks.

Hopefully the waters clear enough to impress them.

    Cheers
