    New fish finder

    Is this any good?
Currently I have an old hummingbird finder on the boat but it's playing up. Possibly only the transmitter damaged. But would this be reasonable buying?

If your budget is a bit bigger you could upgrade to this with a "Trade In"

    Furuno GP1870F Trade In Deal

And if you don't have something to trade I might be able to help with a rooted unit

I've got a Lowrance Elite 5x HDI that I could possibly be selling in a week or so, brand new. Just bought the wrong model for the father in law, got a great deal on it in a package but trying to swap it for the one he wants at the moment

What is it going in and where will you be using it? And I definitely have a dead trade in here.

The boat is a14'6" plylite fisherman, so not worth a lot and I may upgrade it in the next few years.

Also sorry for the long delay! I had forgotten about this thread.
If I had $350ish for my budget am I on the right track for a color job like this:
Lowrance Elite-4x HDI Fishfinder incl 83/200kHz Transducer - Fish Finders - Marine Electronics
Rule 5: Check your firing zone

That would do for you if you only plan for occasional use and water depth up to 50m (realistically work I mean, not what the salesman will say)
My only concern would be the screen size is too wee. They are a good unit for the money (although really i should say they are poo since we are no longer the NZ agents fro Lowrance )

    Cheers @mikee
Yes it's only Lake fishing, and only half a dozen days a year.
So if the budget could stretch to the 5x HDI maybe. Or..?

Sorry assumed it was sea fishing. Most deffinately colour helps the fishing I do in the ocean. From determining the bait to the fish themselves. Dont know what benifit if any for lake.

Puku, with fishfinders like rifles you get what you pay for. 5 x HDI would be better. Especially if you find you might take the boat to salty water at any stage.
But for what you want the Elite 4 will do. I went a bit overboard for electronics for my own boat............. just because of where and who I work for I got a bit of a deal

Rough Budget you have in mind & expected water depth, would help me give some FURUNO biased advice.
