I spent a lot of time in the tropics of North Australia & Africa as a Hunting/Fishing guide in the blasing sun& after l got my pilots licence l would be tasked flying clients into remote camps in Arnhem Land & the Kimberly's, a lot of the time flying into the setting sun & grew to absolutely hate crap easily scratched glasses .I had a chopper pilot mate recommend Spotters sunglasses ,they have are proper optical quality Glass with the lenses sandwiched in between ,making them highly scratch resistant .I brought my last pair over 6 yrs ago in OZ after giving my mate l was guiding with on my last gig in Africa, my old pair as he was blown away by the abuse they would handle .

maui jim $280 upwards , Best lens quality and value
There is only one. Maui Jims. Go for the glass lense models. My pair was $340 from Sunglass Hut in Bayfair.......they are quite frankly the ducks nuts.
Id never go near oakley or any other plastic shit again, wasted hundreds on glasses that break or the polarising delaminates.
the Jims being glass have the polarising imbeded in the glass, also they are very hard to scratch.
Mates old boy works on a Kiwifruit orchard every day, had his pair for 14 years and they have even been under he tractor tire. Still going strong.
Another bonus is the hinges on the arms are spring loaded and can actually flex a bit past 90 forward to stop breakages there too.
I've always used Oakley Holbrook's because I hate"wrap around" sunnies that make you feel like there's something clinging to your face all day. Got the new "Prizm" polarised lens ones last year and they're awesome.
On a side note, funny story about those new sunnies, I bought them and about a week later went for a wander in the Leithen Bush block, when I got out I realised my sunnies had dissapeared off my head as I wasn't wearing them in the Bush. Fast forward to about 2 months ago and I went for another poke around up there. Spent the night on the tops and then made my way out. Had just crossed the last creek before getting back to the car park and something caught my eye.. There's my sunnies I lost last year hanging on a tree branch. What were the odds of walking back past the exact same spot nearly a year later?!

I'll never buy Oakleys again in my life.....complete shite
I'm going to make an assumption and reply based on these are for fishing and not just general wearing.
Oakley's are nice but I don't think they are that strong. Last pair failed at the hinge inside 6 months as everything is plastic. I also scratched the lenses inside a few weeks (not a fault of the glass as it was a fair whack) and I replaced them with aftermarket lenses from Revant optics. They were better than the Oakley lenses.
Smith's are by far the most comfy and lightweight but again for the price I don't think their lenses are really as good as the hype makes out. I have a pair with the glass photochromic lenses and they're good but I will not buy another pair for trout fishing.
I had a pair of Spotters and they were fantastic until they were stolen. The lenses are bright and crisp. Downside was they are heavy glass lenses that you knew were there after a long day fishing.
My next purchase will probably be Tonic as they are reviewing well and tick a bunch of boxes for me. See if they live up to the hype.
When I was living in the US Maui Jim were very popular and that was some time ago. Considering they still review well would suggest they are very good. I never bought some as I never liked the look of their frames.
For work I wear a pair of Bolle polarised safety glasses. They're not too bad for fish spitting and are comfy plus take the knocks. For $99 not bad buying.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
