Thread: Port Jackson - Coromandel

Heading to Port Jackson this weekend and will be taking my diving and spearfishing gear. Whats the sea life like there?

Yonks ago I dived there. A few bugs. Good snapper/kingis can be had. Biggest thing to watch is the current. I’ve been on a 40ft launch with very stacked up seas between Colville Pt. and the island. Take care.

Dawn fish off the rocks at the left hand end of the bay. Just in shallow if the tide is right…in coming and you might pick up a few legal snapper
Worked a treat last time I was there. The wife was very impressed as that was breakfast

Thanks. Fingers crossed I can snag a kingi. Ill be diving from the shore so hopefully currents are small. Im no stranger to them so I think I'll be fine

How long ago was it that you were there?

Was there 3-4 years ago but wasn't diving myself. Plenty of catch at the camp ground and guys where walking north up the beach and over the ridge to dive the other side.

But its a good spot id fish there again. The guy that ran the doc camp said I was the first to catch snapper in months off the beach. Everone else that I saw fishing was doing it straight off the beach and they got zip.

Theres a good hole there with quite the eddie so good luck.
