How do you blokes rig light spinning lures for trout (tazzies, rapalas, blue fox etc) I have a light setup running 8lb braid and have mostly 7-9 gram lures. Should I be using a leader and if so how to attach it to main line and lure?

Alberto or albright knot braid to mono, clinch mono to lure
Interstested in replys here....saltwater would use a rapala knot or an un cinched uni as for soft baiting.
I have no idea about mud fish but its just a fish isnt it?
+1 for the Albright just give it a wee test after tying.
yip tassies much better rate of fish into net if you have it runnung through rather than on crappy wire set up they come with. we use a snap swivel and single hook behind and find that works best for us.Berg if you running swivel a metre above tassie try threading the likes of a #4 fuzzy wuzzy fly onto lien above swivel,it gives impression the wee fish is chaseing something, when Ive run rig like this (always used it with lead line as running swivel) the hook up rate was 50/50 on fly or tazzie.
double over head Brownie for me
FG knot for braid to mono any day. Very easy and fairly quick to do once you've done it a couple of times.https://youtu.be/oohOoOOmbNk
A snap swivel to attach lure would make it quick and easy to change I'm just wary of trout get suspicious if theres a snap swivel in front of the lure?
I use these for my softbaiting rig. I use it for jig heads, slow jigs, dropper rigs and small casting lures. They are tiny and I've never had one come off. Keep the tension on any fish is the rule anyway.

Nah Ryan,
If your using a spinning reel.
Smallest barrel swivel you can find, 1.5m to 2m 4-6lb Flouro leader... Hopefully braid is white or neutral colour, fluro yellow, green or pink is a bit of a giveaway. or at least faded couple of uni-knots either side of leader and rapala knot at the business end to give a natural action.
You need the barrel swivel to take the rotation off the line that the spinning reel impart - don't bother if a overhead reel is used in casting - just a braid to fluro join knot needed then.
Rapala knot is important as it gives a loop end for the lure to have a easy natural action but still be attached.
Do this and watch your catch / hit rate go through the roof.
Screaming reels boys!!!

Lure have a natural action :D I've heard it all now ;)
Leader??? Crikey, I've been hooking straight onto my 4lb fireline without any issues, it's the light charcoal neutral colour. Mostly use the good ole' Black Toby in the Canterbury streams. I do use a straight through leader on the Tassie Devil though, have them individually rigged ready to go.
There's some good info here that I must take note of :)
Fg knot yes it's hard deal with it and learn the best knot. Even harder with tiny line, I fish 4lb braid and 10lb leader I like a leader of around 500ish long use a uni knot to tie on spinner as you will have direct contact with the lure to feel what it's doing and be able to control it's actions!!
Nope too big.... you want very very small and barrel style as the trout will see your wire of the snap and too close to the lure. Rapala knot is the way to go on fluro unless its dark brackish or peaty water - Then drennan subsurface green mono is the go to or copper coloured mono's that are availble.

you might get the young dumb silly trout on a snap swivel but you won't get the big ones...
