Thread: Proper way to rig spinning lures

How do you blokes rig light spinning lures for trout (tazzies, rapalas, blue fox etc) I have a light setup running 8lb braid and have mostly 7-9 gram lures. Should I be using a leader and if so how to attach it to main line and lure?

Alberto or albright knot braid to mono, clinch mono to lure

Interstested in replys here....saltwater would use a rapala knot or an un cinched uni as for soft baiting.

I have no idea about mud fish but its just a fish isnt it?

+1 for the Albright just give it a wee test after tying.

yip tassies much better rate of fish into net if you have it runnung through rather than on crappy wire set up they come with. we use a snap swivel and single hook behind and find that works best for us.Berg if you running swivel a metre above tassie try threading the likes of a #4 fuzzy wuzzy fly onto lien above swivel,it gives impression the wee fish is chaseing something,when Ive run rig like this (always used it with lead line as running swivel) the hook up rate was 50/50 on fly or tazzie.

Far out... uni knot for me it's the only one I can remember.

A snap swivel to attach lure would make it quick and easy to change I'm just wary of trout get suspicious if theres a snap swivel in front of the lure?

Nope too big.... you want very very small and barrel style as the trout will see your wire of the snap and too close to the lure. Rapala knot is the way to go on fluro unless its dark brackish or peaty water - Then drennan subsurface green mono is the go to or copper coloured mono's that are availble.

you might get the young dumb silly trout on a snap swivel but you won't get the big ones...

I use these for my softbaiting rig. I use it for jig heads, slow jigs, dropper rigs and small casting lures. They are tiny and I've never had one come off. Keep the tension on any fish is the rule anyway.
