Thread: Putting out a Kontiki around Tairua

I've decided to put the rifle down for a while and try my luck with a Seahorse Kontiki.

I'm heading up to Tairua at some stage and was keen to spend a few days chucking out the Kontiki.

Are there any decent areas where this is possible as I understand that there are heaps of reefs/rocks off the beaches up that way?

Suggest you go to Onemana en route to Whangamata. Beach access will require a bit of a walk unless you drive right to the end of road. Sandy bottom that should produce snapper and gurnard.
