I've rebuilt a heap of them over the years coming out of the charter industry, amazing how much better they go with a service.
I enjoy tackling simple repair jobs myself. I have time and like to learn from the experience. From the cost saving aspect I win only half the time I reckon, often finding I need to buy parts or a tool or two I don't have to achieve a proper repair. Sometimes it's just cheaper in the end passing the job to a pro and paying his bill.
I have weighed this one up and think my decision to go to Jeff is sound.
And I agree that a service should give my reel a new life.
