    Salmon for the Aussie

G'day, just needing a little advice on catching a Chinook(quinat) salmon for a keen Aussie fisho. I know its bloody hard to target a new species, let alone in another country, but would it would be viable to spend a week thrashing the water to a foam trying to catch one or hire a guide. Kinda answering my own question there I suppose.I have been on the forum before but after passing through Rakaia a couple of months ago,I thought yeah that is a bucket list fish! Thanks if you can help and I would be happy to pay expenses to a local for their time to help me out and would be willing to reciprocate the offer to get a Kiwi onto a Murray Cod.Thanks

What time of year are you planning on trying??
After Xmas the Rakaia Gorge area usually has a few floating around, my parents and brother usually do ok there each year although they do have the typical kiwi river transport
I'm the only black sheep with a "fizz" boat

Looking to go in February next year and tie in a chamois hunt.Is that a good time for the salmon or is it too late for their run?
