    Scott Radians

    Hi Folks!

So after trying out a radian 6wt I must say I am rather taken by the radians.

I'm just after feed back on those who've owned the 904/6 or the 9foot 6 5wt version?

I fish some fairly windy open conditions down here and after something that's got the power yet also has presentation for Subtle dries on the Mataura. I'm also painfully aware of much like with a rifle there won't be one size fits all.

As always folks any advice is much appreciated .

Don't listen to @kiwijames, he sleeps with a radian beside his bed. Sage's are the rods for the South Island. I personally think that getting the right line can make a bigger difference than we realise too. Personally I prefer the Sage 'One' over the radians because I found the radians a little soft and floppy. The Ones will load and present a short cast and lift a roll cast and will also push a long flat cast or even side cast under the wind easily. I cant comment on the later Sages after the One the Method and then some other.
Not the Radian feedback you were after I know sorry

I was a bit disappointed with my Radian at first with a Rio Gold WF. I have one in 906 and have now added a SA MPX line to it and it is a totally different beast. It’s a very fast rod and loads great now, plus is still great for presentation work. The above photo is lake fishing and even with a modest breeze I was casting 75% a fly line easy.
I also have a Sage One in 586 that also sports the same line. Both are great rods but the longer Scott at a full line weight up makes it a little more versatile (and I’d expect it would be the same if it was the other way around).

For the coin you’re looking to spend it would be good to try a few offerings at that level. The new Sage X looks sweet as does the Orvis Helios and the G Loomis NRX. There’s also the local Epic fly rods that review well.
