    Sea sick......

What's the goto cure or preferred method of stopping it happening?

Me, I like a full belly. If I'm hungry I feel like Shit in heavy seas and have been known to add to burly trail. White bread ham sandwiches-instant cure. (Oh and sealegs pills are cheap insurance.....)
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

I go in in nothing smaller than the inter island ferry, only go on fine flat days, and do a double dose of sea legs. Works every time

I used to get a bit queezy picking up dive tanks from the front of a small boat.
I got seriously sea sick bluefin tuna fishing years ago for 3 days. It was miserable.
Got my legs on the 4th day and haven't been close to being sea sick since.

Worked on a boat for 3 months in central Pacific in 2011 and never even got close to being ill that whole time.
Maybe getting it so bad way back cured me

I thought I was seasick for the first time last year with @Munsey. Turned out that I was just sick and took a couple of weeks to get over it. Bloody wondered why I was seasick when I'd been out in way way worse conditions.

More fishing practice usually cures it. I get so seasick I cant leave the rack for first 2-3 days whenever had to go to sea for work. After that no worries.
Never got sea sick up in the Pacific Islands or the Solomons but then they really don't generally have the same conditions here.

I much prefered it though when I was working in the Offshore Oil Industry, Platforms don't move much and you got delivered to work generally by Kerosene Budgie

They still make them. I swear by them - its the only way I travel on the ferry.

Combo of anti-histamine and caffeine. They do leave you a bit drowsy, would not recommend driving after taking them, but better than hurling all the way over the straights...

Colleague with no sea legs swears by the Paihia bombs, not sure either if they still compound them. Can but ask.

When I was commercial diving on sewage outfalls in Hawks Bay, we used to take Benezine, no side effects for the diver. Sadly no longer available. Nausi Calm is the Bees knees for the bride, but be prepared to answer questions when you purchase it.

Mate of mine (ex charter skipper) used to tell any of his clients that were sick that the sure fire cure for sea sickness was to stand under a tree.

No coffee. If any sighns of feeling hot, take off a layer or two. Watch the far horizon keeping the head up, not down; and drink cok\ca cola. When I had my charter boats, I always kept a carton of coke on board, and always watched for any sign of a passenger looking a little hot and bothered, and got them to take off jacket and drink a can of coke. Seemed to always work. Make sure they are not dehydrated before going to sea as well.
