    There are lots of places just off the road between Kawakawa Bay and Kaiaua (1 hour south of Auckland Airport) where you can cast a line from the beach and expect to catch snapper and the best time is now. Caught a 10lb snapper a couple of years ago. Caught and released this 8lb+/50cm snapper a couple weekends ago (already had a couple of 40cm+ fish in the bin).
