Thread: Spinning reel repairs

Evening all. Today I picked up some old fishing gear. A Abu Garcia 12ft rod and reel, a Ryobi reel, a beach spike and couple of rolls of line. Problem is the two reels are in need of repair and I know F'all about repairing reels. Both reels with issues with the anti-reverse not working, the Abu Garcia is a bit hard to spin and the Ryobi has a mix match of drag washers that don't work properly. Is there a good fishing reel repairman or a NZHS member in the Hamilton region that could take a look at these two reels for me?

I have always fixed my own - with the help of you tube - parts are the problem -drag washers are not hard - sand paper and a sheet of glass works well you need a dead flat surface - some washers on real cheap reels are stamped out and are way out of being dead flat - that sports shop sounds good - but a ryobi well use it for practise repairs
