spinning for trout in the Hutt river?

    hi all

is it possible to catch trout in the hutt river on a regular basis? I would like to get into some kind of fishing and i did a bit of trolling for trout in Taupo as a kid. i dont think i have the patients for fly fishing but was always good at slinging a lure. so that narrowed it down to spinning for trout. that and the fact that Dad still has a whole bunch of trout fishing bits and pieces laying in the shed so minimal financial input (which will keep the mrs happy after buying a new rifle/hunting setup)
so before i buy the license would like to hear what the chances of being able to catch fish regularly enough are?

not expecting a fish every time but some regular luck would be nice

    cheers

The Hutt trout are pretty educated. You can always try a bubble float with flies as well. I often tie a wooly bugger or fritz in front of a mepps spinner. Lots of good fishing over in the Wairarapa, check the Welly fish and game website.

You tried the Kourarau dam out Gladstone, used to fish it years ago, had some good perch in it, worms on a bubble

I have heard that the Wainuiomata stream has some of the best fishing in the Lower North Island .
