A bunch of guys would have caught 50 snapper off the rock in front of my place on thursday, friday last week. These are some I got sitting in the dingy in front of our place for a couple of hours on Friday. I got another six next morning. The fish are nothing special just fat and good eating

I need to really start to focus and give this a red hot crack with the correct gear... I always half arse it and give up and go back to bait... one day I need to leave the bait at home and have no choice!
Get yourself set up properly. A purpose designed rod, reel and line is essential. You don't have to spend a lot of money, but you do have to spend some. Hot tip, Gulp is bait albeit synthetic. Snapper in particular want to eat it. You will get a lot more bites with Gulp. Downside is that it is easily damaged and expensive. If the bite is hot, use ZMan or other plastic softbaits.
