    Tapotupotu Bay - Far North

    Hi there
I was hoping to fish Parengarenga harbour but access is closed to public atm.
Does anyone have any info about launching from Tapotupotu bay. I have a Pajero 4wd and want to launch a JetSki but have no knowledge of this bay and what’s doable.

I believe you should be able to launch it into the stream at Northern end will be tide dependant - but man do you really want to be off there in a jet ski - a break down and before you know it thats the 3 kings you are going past major currents

    Thanks for that info
Yes understand the area as have fished on way back from the kings
It’s a wild place and everything would need to be spot on to consider it. Plus would be 2 skis which gives some safety factor

Yes we had considered those options but we quite liked the idea of fishing for puka off the deep foul that’s around 15 km from Parengarenga. We may need to shelf that idea!!

well if the 90 mile was flat and two of you Pandora bank its not to far out but man need big gonads in a jet ski and someone to look after your vehicle thieving up there real possibility - when I worked for DOC at Kaitaia we had real problems up that way

We keen to get into some areas not fished regularly but the days of being foolhardy and taking unnecessary risks are long gone.
Yes vehicle safety is a real concern
It’s a real disappointing aspect of this great country
