    Tasman shellfish?

Further to another thread re shifting to Marlborough in a week or so, wife and I will be caravanning round Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman until we take possession of our house in Blenheim. A few years ago, we harvested a feed of cockles at Marahau. Have the beds recovered since that disastrous erosion that smashed the area?
Are there other localities in top of the south where I could grab a feed? I won’t have my boat, so looking for general locations for some kai Moana. PM’s welcome. Messages to p*ss off and do your own finding generally tolerated.
    Cheers,
    Warwick

Yep still cockles in Marahau and many other inlets in the area.

Unfortunately there is currently a Rahui on shelfish collection due to the rainfall event in May inundating the septic ponds.

Unsure when it will be lifted....

Folks gathering cockles at Delaware , flounder were a bit thin on the ground on our last visit, but have a set of lights if you want to try a spear! Few gurnard about so a surf cast off Sandy beach’s would be worth a look.
