    Timaru fishers

    Hi all.
I've just got a little boat ( Smartwave 3500) and impretty new to the whole fishing boat game.
Did lots of warf fishing and fly fishing when younger.
The aim with he boat is to get out and do a different sport and get my kids out to enjoy it.
Sadly I'm based in Timaru and the fishing for a smaller boat is a little limited. Or maybe I'm just not on the right track.
But keen to hear of any tips for this area, places i should try for a look ( not your spot). Methods that suit. I'm pretty successful with a longline and kayak from the shore for elephant fish.

Hoping to target a kingfish later this summer too if I get a chance. And work out best option.

    Cheers

Oamaru. Go south of harbor for a bit, blue cod everywhere.dont need to go far. From memory, was about here - https://maps.app.goo.gl/ortXoWBbn1G6YkNf9

Has been about 7 years though. The point is, you don't need to drive to the horizon.

Timaru, watch the swell. Ramp is protected from direct waves, but the swell and angle of the ramp can lead to interesting experiences getting back on trailer. (Had a smart wave 4200, when we lived in timaru) . And caught nothing either
