    Time to replace the Boat

Our old Fyran 440 ( 1995) has started to spring leaks due to the aluminium getting thin on the bottom .
    It’s powered by a 40hp Mercury 2 stroke ( 2016 ) and it has done our family great service it’s whole life ( we’ve owned since new ) .
I know nothing about boats , to me they are simply a tool to get some fish or go for a blat around the bays at our place down the Sounds .
What are some recommendations for something similar to replace our old boat .
The size of the Fyran 440 is perfect for what we need , so I’m not chasing anything bigger .

Any advice from those more knowledgeable than me would be greatly appreciated.

PS - does anyone know of a company ( Nelson/Marlborough) that could maybe repair/ plate the bottom of our old boat .

DNA,huntjet, osprey may rebottom it for you but it probably wouldn't stack up on cost/benifit.

If that is the size and style of boat(not pontoon) you want to replace with Id look seriously at the fish city...be a bit more stabile than the 440 too and upgrade to 50-60 hp 4stroke.
Something a bit more bomb proof but less usable space would be something like the stabicraft 1550 fisher....needs a 60-70 on it.

I don't know your area, but people are doing interesting things with tiller steer pontoon boats in the 4.0 - 4.5 metre range. Stabicraft and Senator. I've had an FC560 Centre Console for the past year. It's a great boat, no complaints and I'm fussy bugger! That said, if I was after a smaller boat, I'd consider those little pontoon boats.

It’s lucky I was sitting down when I googled new boat prices

I think some epoxy/ welded patches is going to be the recipe for the next couple of years .

Yeah, it's crazy, thought it might have cooled off a little.

Rimu Engineering, based at Riverlands, could possibly do it at reasonable cost.

Im seeing an increase of the amount of boats for sale at the moment. Prices dont seem to have come down though.
Patience could well pay off later in the year.
