Temuka evening rise is history in itself. Ashburton has surprising numbers in parts. I've found trout in tiny creeks n drains all over sth canterbury.the opihi is fun at times too

Any of the river mouths down the coast on a NICE calm evening, you should see some sea run trout about.Spin fish in the softer currents n side pools to main flow just on dark.Might be some early salmon coming thru the river mouths too on the evening incoming tide too.The big three river mouths are the Rakaia,Rangitata and the Waitaki.Theres a few other smaller river mouths to Dunedin all marked on the map as well.Tight lines.

The mainstem of the Waitaki is full of fish, just find a good access point to a run with good drop offs. Access at the main road bridge

The 3 main rivers have about a 10 to 15 minut walk south side to mouth.
