Thread: Trout release on Mt Pirongia

Hi guys,

Heard a rumour, that was backed up by some pretty old newspaper clippings of a trout release in Stony or Stoney Creek on Mt Pironiga (Waikato). Although Stony (or Stoney) Creek is not marked on any topo maps,
I know it discharges into the Waipa River, so it must be on the eastern side of Mt Pirongia.

Does anyone know what Stoney Creek is more commonly known as on modern topo maps?

Thats what my initial thoughts were, though could find no mention of Kaniwhaniwha being called Stony Creek. But it looks like the most likely option unless Im told otherwise. I also thought of possibly the Mangakara Stream too?
