I still get the impression that dealerships remain quite arrogant regards sales and think that the customer will still just throw money at them. Unfortunately my experience has been one of where the dealership rep has failed to maintain any kind of contact to nurture the relationship unless you are buying right now and the actual knowledge of the sales reps has been poor. If i owned the dealership, the sales team would have homework to do. I do not want to see anyone go out of business, but the prices need to represent value. Gone are the days where people are prepared to add to their mortgage and I feel for those that find themselves having to sell and are seeking recompense, but unrealistic prices through trade me. Ads like great family boat $100k, cost to buy new $150k doesn’t wash any more. $100k is a lot of money. I will be getting a boat in the next 12-24 months but if i cannot get value for money then I will go an alternative route. I do not see any major shift in the economy for some time and suspect a few more NZ boat builders/dealerships will fall by the way side. Trade me 6-8m boats resembles a list of desperation currently. Very sad.

Spoke to an importer yesterday. Worth a bit of coin. Was told to buy a farm or an orchard. Reckons there will be a significant correction in land values as costs escalate and income returns drop.Boats as a luxury item will get caned. This dude goes to China and London every 4 months.
