i use a 6 foot, two piece rod on the manawatu,6lb mono and lures no heavier the 7gm. mepps and soft baits are great for the Manawatu. 62 trout for the year.

Agree with all above. Four through to seven.... Feet long rod,lb of nylon and grams spinner weight lol.
If you're fishing small rivers, then mono or fluorocarbon all the way through might be the way to go. I can't see that it would make much difference. If you need to do longer casts on bigger rivers and lakes I'd stick with braid mainline. I only have one trout setup, so braid for me.
Mostly longer casts on the waikato river and lake karapiro .
I prefer 4- 7lb mono
Braid gets wind knots and seems just cause more issues especially walking through thick gorse or thistle
In salt , Braid with a Fluoro leader
Might swap out the braid for some light mono then.
