What's up with this Trevally ?

Seen all sorts of weird shit in fish but usually when comercial fishing and it didn't matter because I wasn't eating it.

Why does this fish have hard bubbles in its top loin?

It was only caught in 9m so I think we can discount depth trauma.

Yea my first thought also but it looks perfect on the outside, I have seen fish fully healed with bloody great bites out of them down to the backbone.

How they survive that shit I dont know, any mammal would be dead in minutes .

Pretty common in Trevally up here (BOP), wasn't sure but I just did a search and have come up with swim-bladder ectasia. Caused by the swim bladder. I normally give it to the pooch.

Yeah I've seen that a few times as well. Also seen poor speargun wounds healed over, but could still see entry & exit scars on each side of body.

This is bizarre looking though. Sounds like you've got a logical answer from these lads though. Not a bad size trev either.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out
