Thread: Whitebaiting 2022

Best of luck to all for the new season. I will be out early looking for the first feed of the season. Like a lot of areas the Waikato river is running pretty high, so will have to see what comes though.
Will be interested to hear from West Coasters how the new regulations are affecting fishing down there as the season progresses.

Tides and weather looking good for here tomorrow to get the gear wet.

Shit house wx forecast for The Haast. 1/2 mtr on the divide starting this arvo thro to Sat nite so the first week a right off.The Local will do well.Hope he's got stocks in cause the roading network will crash.A pub with no beer....

How's everyone's season going? I'm a weekend warrior east coast lower south island about 5 trips for 2kg so far definitely a poorer season for me than most, at least to date on the Clutha and Taieri

Had a few fritters and enough in the freezer for the Xmas BBQ. Happy enough. Sounds like there were plenty moving in August.

Only 2 trips out for 3kg's, not great but enough for us.

Just been over there, fished 3 tides, nothing first tide, 1lb the next and managed 3lb on Friday. Awesome weather though. It's been pretty poor according to most.

Finally caught some. It has been a very slow season here on the Waikato River, with the river running at usually high levels for this time of year. This was about the 10th of October.
