Anyone been up the Hopkins lately?

I've heard that the 4wd tracks up the Hopkins are in pretty poor condition.
Anyone been up there recently and can let me know if it's still passable?
    Cheers

I went for an unarmed wander up the Huxley a month or so back. Got my Terrano to Monument hut no problem. 90% of the track was all good, in fact very good in many places, just with a couple of pinch points around mid-way in where the track crosses some rocky creek-beds. I stopped and walked them first, picking my line and shifting a couple of rocks that were looking hazardous.

A standard double-cab may drag the tail a bit on those spots, just with the tight up/down angles, but careful driving should see it through.

A backpacker type in a slightly lifted Toyota Harrier had made it to Monument without much trouble, too.

The first crossing just downstream at Monument looked very easy, but I was happy parking up there.

    Hi,

Was up there last week in the wee Jimny and all ok. It was fairly busy up there I might add, saw over 12 vehicles all hunting...

Thanks for the feedback. I figured it would be busy but this is with a family trip in mind - still armed of course as you never know....

Went up there not long ago, typical 4wd tracks. not too bad, a bit rutted and was pretty dry though. Could imagine what itd be like after some rain!
