Thread: Backcountry hut pass discount PSA

Just a notice that if you buy/intend to buy a DOC backcountry hut pass using an NZDA, FMC, NZMCA etc discount - after 30th June the existing 30% discount for the various clubs/orgs is being scrapped.

Instead a tiered 10 or 20% discount is being applied, based on the org. applying and being able to ‘prove’ their members’ contribution to conservation/public recreation facilities by volunteer hours/monetary equivalent. Hopefully NZDA is on top of this and able to qualify.

This thread isn’t to whinge or bash.

But simply, if you intend to buy a hut pass in the next while using one of those discounts, you’ll save a bit of money if you do it prior to the end of the month.

Same with DOC campsite caravan parking. We secured approx 30% disc as nzmca members. New purchases now 10% disc I understand.

The country is broke

LandSAR has dropped to 20% if I recall.

Really disappointing for the organizations that do so much conservation work.....for free. It's a step backwards in public relations.
