Thread: Chinese owner fights access

I have it on good understanding that he same is happening up the Poulter river area near Mt White Station just past Cass.

The american owner of a significant station is trying to block access to the public, an area that has been frequented by 4wd clubs and others for years. The Combined 4wd Clubs of Canterury group are looking into it.

The Czech owner of Mt White has made access a lot more difficult

I have been up through mt white a few years ago to the privately owned hut.
As long as people threat it as priviledge alot of access blocking wouldn't happen.
I have heard horror stories of how people act with farmers that have what people thought were doc easments through property.
The few will ruin it for the rest is the general rule.
A box of piss and a bottle of wine for the missus can open alladins cave some times.
It amazes me how many people don't get it!

Well said. Treat people how you want to be treated. Arrive in the face of a farmer/land owner with arrogance and you are going to go along way backwards.

I agree, a phone call first saying you're coming through and asking if there is anything they need (bread, milk etc) goes a long LONG way.

Yep. The former manager was very accommodating. Unfortunately after they left the owner removed all access rights even to the private owned block out back. It got messy with lawyers etc.
Theres been a few managers since and the current aren't bad to deal with. They do now charge an access fee.
