any dinghy sailors out there in Auckland keen to catch up over summer for a few adventures on the habour . ive got lasers myself
I sailed Sunburst years ago but mate that was in the happy days of my first marriage so we are talking well before before Adam played half back for the Jews
Rushy im loosing the belly so i can do the in out in out a of the boat as the wind start and stops -bloody physical little boats .
Used to sail as a kid.
Have just bought this to clean up and take the boy out Welsford Houdini | Trade Me
I have a Windrush, which the local Kids sailing club have the use of
I actually bought the plans earlier in the year with the idea of building one next winter, but even with potential repairs this will still cost less than half the cost of building it.
plan to stick to the inner harbour till I remember how to sail :D, then slowly stretch out from Kawau to Waiheke as my boy gets older.
I imagine I would be carrying the lunch if you plan to go anyway with on a laser :D
yep you carry the lunch for sure or the sammys are goin to the bottom . where in the inner habour you thinking . i have great launching at birkenhead wharf near me . youll get more confidence also sailing with others first time out . i did it 2 weeks back after 12 years out of the water and did ok -tipped once
I'm half way round the harbour. Will probably set off from tat north peninsula.
I will need to have a good look at the rig the guys put on it though, I suspect it's a poor choice for the boat, and will risk fate and give her a name change.
Tarawera
I just googled dinghy racing mate, no way i'd be doing than. Looks to hard out.
This is my style on the briny

nice day out without wind Gibo but once a touch comes up a dinghy is alot of fun !!
tomorrow 19km in the gulf --- im going in the tide for sure yehhaaaa
Well if your going out on a surfboard, sorry laser, then your gonna get wet whether you stay in it or not.
just had a great few hours sailing the inner habour . not loads of wind but very pleasurable sharing my beat with some very old classic yachts racing- thank goodness some still appreciate beautiful things from the early years! Some of the rigging was most interesting-this photo wasn't today but im sure it was the same yachts
Boat is now at my place.
Apparently the sail and rig on it is off a 16' optimist that someone sailed for a season! I have no idea why someone would upsize an opti 100%
Anyway the setup functions but is a bit of a buggers muddle, so think I will try sort out a few issues before taking it for a spin.
El B feel like some experimental chaos in a few weekends time?
I have figured out the problem with the current sail rig and will be fixing it this weekend, then I need some ballast and some insanity to sail it with sprit only, no boom.
You heavy enough
You insane enough
You keen? :D
Barefoot, El B would have several uses on that occasion. He could bring his at tweed jacket which could sub as a handy spinnaker down wind and he is wide enough to tie a rope (I know it is really a sheet on a yacht) around and use as a sea anchor if it cuts up to much.
since starting this post I am now with my 5th sailing dinghy haha .After buying the Europe and the other thing I got a set of lasers on a trailer and then sold the first two .The lasers were great especially having two so I could sail with a friend buta flash newer boat made of plastic turned up and I wanted it so purchased it .
Topper topaz Uno with a race sail and small head sail . I can take one other smaller person on this boat unlike the lasers which really were a one person boat
Here are a few shots of the boat and some taking the ex wife for a spin -tried to toss her out in the harbour and took one to the chops for my efforts .
Im still ;looking for others to sail with if your out there ????? let me know for a bit of harbour exploration
Nice.
I sold my Phase 2 dinghy to buy a rifle... a Remington of things.
am i mistaken or did the kayakers go past you?
truth was that day we were struggling with a lack of wind and an out going tide -still it was pleasant !!
I had a phase two for years -great boat and a few still around but all around mid to late twentys so all show a bit of wear but still massively enjoyable to sail with a friend .
Sailing for me is another form of meditation especially on a sunny Auckland day on the Auckland harbour
yep that is spelling is exactly what was meant to be said
I'd love to get out and do some sailing. I did a course sailing splashes last year. I don't have my own boat. Apparently you can rent them from like, the ponsonby cruising club. It was a lot more physical than I expected sailing those little things!

Rimfire ,if you want company on a day out send mail as im usually a starter and it gives you a bit more confidence sailing with another person . the splash is like a small laser isnt it? This is me on the water today in my new dinghy
sailed a 14ft Aussi skiff for the fist time .really unstable boat even with its size , light winds on the Rotorua lakes but good fun .
im 8 foot 7
