Pudding Hill Station - Access permission?

Does anyone have the telephone number for Pudding Hill Station? I'm wanting to ask permission to park at the aerodrome and walk into the DOC Black Hill range hunting area.

Looks like it'll be away easier walking from aerodrome over Pudding Hill than going in via Pudding Hill stream itself then bashing up through the bush.

Have already phoned Mt Hutt Retreat but he doens't know. Treid the old Pudding Hill lodge business but it has become Kakariki camp at Stavely and they don't know either.

Its much easier to just park up at the old Seventh Day Adventist Lodge, walk up Pudding hill Stream and then pick an appropriate ridge. A number of those ridges lead right to the top ridge without too much hassle, and its faster, much faster. Or you can get hold of Mt Hutt Ski area and get a key to the gate and drive right up to the skifeild and head on out to the south, under the South Face. Getting permission from Pudding Hill is almost impossible, he keeps it all locked up.

Cheers. I've made a few calls and can't even get a phone number so looks like I'll need to park at Mt Hutt Retreat, use their track to reach the stream and then up a spur. I'd hoped walking up the farm tracks as open ground and not as steep. Oh well, I tried.

It's Mt Alford Station, not Pudding Hill and the farm tracks are steep so you will be legging it up hill regardless unless you were using a 4 wheeler. As Husky1600 said, take the creek mate.

Had been hoping on blue route walking from aerodrome. Way flatter, dry and open country.
But can't get permission so will be the red steeper bush route and I'll get wet with the many stream crossings.

Yip follow the river, it does get a good hiding so good luck. Some new deer fencing up all around private land. Have seen some parked cars damaged on lodge road.

You will find the red line easier, and there may even be a new deer fence to walk beside. And theres bugger all water in PH Stream right now so your feet will more than likely stay dry.

thanks all for the info. I've really limited hunting time available (Mrs has bad depression & anxiety so I need to be around a lot).
Anything that gets me into the area quicker is good!

Thanks, tried going up the stream in August and only got as far as the 'Pudding Hill' text on above map before got to a near waist deep crossing.

Hot tip for an animal perhaps....Mate is down there at the moment having a leisurely stroll up pudding hill stream and has been sending me videos of fresh sign all arvo. He's not a hunter just a casual walker on a skiing holiday.

Wading up the stream will be really cold this time of year! Will have been massive flows through there recently with 0.5m falling in it's catchment
