There's a road that goes through from rerewhakaaitu through to matahina dam, it's not technically a forestry road and isn't gated

I just had a look at the map as wasn't aware of the rewewhikaitu to matching rd. Made me think of the million dollar road and I found this.

Bit of interesting history.
The route through Rerewhakaaitu to Matahina via Ashpit and Ngamotu Roads is public ..... McKee Rd through to Kawerau, and Bonish Rd ( back towards Kaingaroa village/Murupara) are private.Quote:

Ngamotu rd is shorter, but probably not quicker.....and may well burn as much gas given the ~20 km (?) on metal roads that way?Quote:
