    Waianakarua's "Kahikatea Lodge"

North Otago NZDA's are proud to announce the completion of their new hut the "Kahikatea Lodge'' and it is now ready for use by the general public.
The hut is situated on the ridge between roar block's 3 and 4 access is via Mount Misery Road and Glen Coe Run. The hut can be seen from the DOC car park at the end of the road (past the old Red Hut) The hut has six bunk beds, good water supply, solar power, huge toilet and large meat safe.
The hut is already proving very popular, and bookings are recommended. For anyone wanting to book you can either pm me and i will send you details of our hut custodian, or the details are on the DOC website.
Also, we have to give a huge thanks to all the people who gave up their time to help with the build and all others who supported us in this project without that support we would never have managed to build the hut.

    Harry Gibson
    North Otago NZDA Branch President

I would put up some photos but every time i try the bloody things come up huge and I can't work out how to resize them on windows 11

Looks awesome Harry, I'm back in North Otago now so myself and Bo need to get out and see if we can find some critters, he's going a bit mad on this flat boring land!

Looks great. I am itching to get back down from Welly for a trip around my old stomping ground. Keen for some tasty wild lamb.

Great effort Nth Otago - way to go! Might sneak up to see cobbers in Oamaru and take a walk out there.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. It's feedback like this that will make the hut a success
