Thread: Waikaia Two Day Adventure Trail Ride

Thought some of you may be interested in this ride we did last week. It was organised by a good friend of mine as a fundraiser for the Waikaia Prmary School.

Some mates and I led the ride over two days and 250 odd kms, over several large stations and into some awesome country. We covered Gem Lake, Hukarere, Argyle, Glenary, Glencairn stations, plus some smaller places, and a bit of Doc country as well.

About 70 riders took part, most of them would have been 35+ years old, we were the youngest by 10 years plus we reckoned. Some of those old boys can ride too

It was a two day event, leaving Moa Flat (Ettrick) Saturday am and heading over to Waikaia township vis Piano flat and the Whitecombe. We arrived late afternoon after several hours on the bikes.

The school put on all food including a awesome dinner on Saturday night, then a few adventurous ones headed down to the pub to have a few "quiets".

Sunday morning after another awesome brekky cooked up by a few of the local ladies we headed back to Moa Flat a different way to the day before.

Over all it was very successful, I think the guys paying got value for money and best of all we got to ride in some places where it would never be an option otherwise. So thanks to the local station owners/managers.

A few guys didnt make it, injuries, broken bikes, etc but thats all part of it. If you're keen on this sort of thing its a bloody good weekend away and well worth it. Next February it'll be run again.
