    What is this skull from ?

    Is it a mammal, a bird (plane) or what ?
    Where could I find out for sure ?

    There were just a couple of fine ribs around and one vertebra but no jawbones, feet or beaks.
    It was on top of the leaf litter, in tall old manuka forest among Waikato farmland.
    My theory is it was a harrier hawk (Circus approximans).

    Bit of a flat looking bird pelvis to my untrained eye, from a rattite (useless buggers that can't fly)? Weka or kiwi?

    Pelvis area and lower rib cage for sure,see plenty of them at the lake I shoot after goose cull bodies have broken down.

    @7mmsaum this up above looks dodgy. Did you get your new delete stick for Christmas? Might want to try it out on the half dozen posts this cookie has made.
