    Bringing brass back from sussie

    What are the rules for bringing brass back from aussie into nz with checked baggage?

    Brought back a dozen once fired in checked baggage from Darwin - Sidney - Auckland, June last year - no problem. May have been lucky with Customs staff or it may be the norm.

    Brother brought over brass and projectiles for me about 2 years ago.
    Had to go to the airport (Brisbane) a bit early to sort it out.
    He went to the oversize luggage counter where people check in surfboards etc. No trouble.
    I don't think he even mentioned them when he got here.

    Theoretically it shouldn’t be that easy.
    I’d call them brass centrifuge tubes and go with minimal original packaging.

    I brought back two bags of .30/06 brass from the US in checked suitcase and had to go through Sydney. No attention payed.
