My ol Man had had a ride in it.Great service. Just a word of caution though, there are a few outfits that fund raise for the rescue choppers and some keep a fair chunk for admin costs etc.You would hope westpac would be ok as a main sponser though.
Yeah I bet theres a fair few on here that have or know someone thats had a whirly bird taxi ride, the Welly one saved my father in laws life
good to hear that the forum has donated to a very good cause big thumbs up for that.
As I mentioned before, the Wellie one gave me an express trip to the Hospital
hey i got a ride in the westpac waikato chopper. broke my femur smashed half my ribs, and cracked my skull, after falling ten meters. never eva thought anything like this could happen to me BUT it did and i got to fly. great service should all be gov funded like overseas chopper services. i let them use my story on the cover of their fundraising newsletter with my mugshot. i was not hunting it was all work related.
Yes good stuff. One of the few things I donate money for. We've had to use it twice, and without it both times we would have been attending a funeral.
Well done for chosing Westpac helecopter. The business I run donates a considerable amount to their appeal each year as I see it in the Woodhill forest up the back of my place quite frequently. I have even had cause to call it a few years back when a a woman that was cantering through the forest on a horse beside me ended up with a busted pelvis when the horse caught its hoof under a root and sommersaulted on top of her.
Very worthy cause.
John
I have set up a few landing sites, watched them lowered through the trees and carried a few stretchers to them in the past but never had to use one - cross my heart.
The government should be funding these "angels in the sky" (and not just via ACC)
