Extirpation (removal) of 'sold, dead or no activity) threads

    Hi guys (Admins)
Only been on the overall forum for a few months.
Love it, but keep finding threads (on various forums), that haven't had any activity for months - sometimes years.
Then some weeks/months later, the same item/subject crops up again as a 'new' thread with a slightly different title.
I'm under the impression (possibly false), that Administrators are 'supposed' to keep threads as current and up to date as their time allows.
Some forums have over 1K of threads going back 2-3 years.
Seems to be a waste of 'processor' space - and memory, to have non-active threads hogging memory.
Elsewhere, Admin. means 'control and keeping up to date'.
    Just my 2c worth.

As far as I am concerned every day I log in and the site is up is a good thing

I pay nothing for this site or the admins' time so everything is a bonus

Perhaps if you wish to complain you might like to make a sizeable cash donation their way as they do all of this for nothing

If you were to hit the "What's new?" button regularly this may go some way to alleviating your issue

This place is admined just like any other forum I've posted on, and I'm happy with how it's run.

Storing threads has no effect on the servers. Keeping old stuff is great as it's searchable. Deleting even the sold items threads would be a shame because they're useful for finding out what things might be worth.

I find that most of the time a new thread is better than tacking on to an old one unless it's something like the "things you really like" thread that's meant to be just random chatter. New threads attract more attention and on-topic discussion compared to adding a post to page 3 of some other random one.

Removing old threads would right piss me off because it is bound to be the exact one I am searching for.

As an archive the older posts are great. Both for reference, and a laugh or two. It's amazing what search engines pick up, Google lead me back to this forum the other day, straight back into the 'dog scrap' days of 2012. Made for great reading

Yeah no shit mate and there's nothing better than reading some of Toby's finer wordsmithing when you need a lift

But in saying that if ever a thread was to be deleted this one would do

Some of his one liners are priceless

So you want to 'extirpate' this thread Gibo? (love the bracketed explanation in the title by the way, condescending and verbose)

No I don't care, but if one was to be extirpated this seems the best one
