    The next 6 months

Just a bit of a brain storm & Q&A thread about what would you like to see on or done by the forum before the end of the year

I'll hope to have some forum bumper & hut book stickers organized
Some caps & Swazi bush shirt with NZHS logos would be cool
a couple more forum get togethers & LR gong shoots ( always a work in progress )
Maybe three or four novice hunter day courses ( hosted by forum members across the country )
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Philipo I think occasional novice hunt courses are a very good idea, as this forum grows there will be more new ones about that would benifit from this.
The one's Bruce ran from the other forum were well received and in my opinion a very worthwhile and generous way of giving new guys a hand up in our world.
Whether they take the form he did by taking new guys out or a simple short range shoot with some new hunters showing and/or helping with shooting technique, various shooting postions etc and answering the inevitable questions new guy at the sport have.
Either way I think it's a great idea.

A Group hunt in SI on wallabies would be good.
Pres of NZDA recently said the latest estimate of Wallabies was in the 1000000 mark. Some stations have 300 per hectare.

A wallaby trip would be good.

Those numbers are a bit off I reckon? 300 per hectare, considering they probably eat about the same amount as a sheep that's a pretty high stocking ratio They'd stave themselves to death pretty quick
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

I'm all for getting young hunters/shooters into it as you well know.
I already have a couple of "Apprentices" but I could possibly sort out a bunny shoot or range shoot for newbys.
Timing is the thing. Fitting everything in is a juggling act.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

The novice hunter day courses would be brilliant to help support those who are getting into hunting maybe make it a weekend one with a hunt included so people can put to use the skills they have been taught by teaming them up with an experienced hunter. A good way to get membership numbers up especially if the site is showing support for those who are learning or still in the process of learning.

If there is a need I will happily provide coaching with the old shotgun. I work overseas but I am home often. I am happy to travel around the south island if there is enough interested in one place. And some hunting near by.
I can accomodate most styles and as an experienced coach will be sure that a person gains some confidence and sees a marked improvement in there hit rates.
This will be free of charge to all forum members of course, providing pers provide there own ammo and clays.
Another way is to have a session at a Forum LR day.
If I am unable to help, I know of better shots and coaches than myself that can.
