    Just an idea

A section for people to post political links with the ability to reply disabled.

No shit fights, people informed, make your own mind up on the content.

I like to be informed but dont have the inclination to search for stuff.

Could work for other stuff too

We could have a thread for something like that and have it locked, only mods and admin can post in a locked thread??
If its guns, tits or tyres it's going to cost you lots of money

only if they sent it to admin or a mod, you cant have a thread were you post only with no reply option, thats what you have now. You could always tell people not to reply

Political and Religious views/links etc NOT being part of things, was a corner stone to the inception of this place.

    Ok fair enough .
It was just an idea that popped into my head as so many threads are turning political these days.
I like the no politics ! Its the main thing that fucked me off with the old one.

Then can i suggest more vigilant screening of posts/threads so that politics don't creep in in any threads involving the like of gun law. gun safety . Gun storage.pest control. helicopters. Doc. Poisoning. Trapping. Wilderness areas. Etc etc etc.

Im not trying to be a smart Arse, it creeps into any thread that has any thing to do with any of those subjects.

Hit the report button - all the blues get notified and someone will nuke it

It is something that needs to be monitored a bit more - and I think the blues have got in under control now for the most part

VC, I thought your suggestion was a good one and I struggle to understand why such a links only suggestion is not technically possible when we put a man on the moon in the sixties. I have been haunting this forum for a few months now and have actually not ever seen a political post yet. Contentious yes. Posts that have pissed some members and moderators off, yes. But never a political post.

Determining what is and what is not political is subjective and therein lays the difficulty that the moderators face so the exclusion and deletion of some threads is completely understandable in that context. That however does not detract from the fact that your idea was and remains a good one.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

The trouble seems to be one persons opinion to some stuff is different to others.
Be a funny old world if we all liked the same things, people, places etc. There be sod all innovation required.
But it hits the fan when the replies get out of hand.
If a link to a news article off this site is put up for people to view it may not mean the poster wanted to start a debate but thats what can happen

How about policed by members.??? Potential scenario ...

Say if the poster wasnt sure if the topic was gonna cause problems and knew they didnt want trouble or answers of any type but
at the same time felt members may wish to know about the topic.

In the subject title put "NO COMMENTS" if any one adds a reply or comment ignore it and remind them the topic had NO Comments in it.
Surely wouldnt take long till everyone got the point. Constant repeated repliers could get a PM from a Mod asking them if they need reading lessons or what...

That way the news article or pic or pending change to something or links to cheapest knock shop etc etc gets posted. Basically the info is out there.. People can like it , hate it whatever but not reply.
Worth a trail period or not...

I feel there is nothing wrong with sharing information but as above its the replies and different opinions we all have that turns it into a combat zone....
Any one else thoughts on the topic .... ????

Imagine if this was acceptable behavior you could start with NO COMMENT. Xxx you are so gay. That's terrible I know but it's got to be right up there with can you smell petrol ? If you have not heard that you really are not driving far enough on hunting trips with your mates
Kinda like are we there yet with smells and end of the day memorable but bad at the time !!
