Really weird stuff happening with forum

I've had some weird stuff happening with the forum today. When clicking on the forum a new tab opens. Then a pop-up came up saying a network breach hap happened from my IP address and gave me a phone number to ring to sort out issues. I didn't ring the number. Had to use alt clt deal to close Chrome.
    Any ideas?

I block all popups so won't see this on my computer.
Any chance of taking a screen image next time you get the popup, and post it in here.

See the thread "Hacked". Google says the web site has been hacked so the first time you access it you get adds that the hackers have injected. I think it's Vladimir Putin trying to get the dirt on our election so he can put Gareth Morgan in charge of the country.

I think it might be a virus rather than a forum issue. I've taken a screen shot but don't seem to be able to use webbrowsers. It says
The server d19pnrgxiqp2x9.clouddont.net is askin for your username and password. The server reports that is from Windows has detected some suspicious activity. Please login and verify your identity or call us immediately on our helpline 099749607.
Then has a space for username and password.
    @gadgetman what do you think?

More than one person is getting it so i don't think it's a virus. Are you getting that at work? It sounds like it's your corporate web blocking software.

No on my home computer. It is not just coming from the forum website either. Happened with both chrome and Internet explorer. Not getting it on my iPhone and kids computers seem to be ok.

Looks like you have acquired a redirection addin to your browsers. Download and run malwarebytes, run a virus check. If that doesn't work with chrome then uninstall chrome and reinstall it as it often hides the addins. The other browsers normally show the addin OK for you to disable/remove.

Thanks @gadgetman that seems to have worked. My McAfee virus is about to run out, what one do you recommend?

i used to run avg free , but now use Avira free , ... works just fine , along with malwarebytes as well .... if you do ring that 09 number , it will redirect to a indian call centre , and they will scam you ... remember the phrases ... madder chod , ben chod , and chutyia.... good hindi swear words

If you doubt, just google the number. Chances are you won't be the first.

Cheers guys, I figured ringing the number would be a bad move. I've used avg free and had no probs, but I'll look at avira free.

+1 for free anti virus software. The paid stuff usually follows this pattern.

    Buy one year subscription.
Happily rely on it for a year.
Get a message that your subscription is about to run out and follow the easy steps to pay the renewal.
You've paid the renewal but the software refuses to update.
After two weeks of fruitless attempts to get hold of someone to sort it out you tell it to stop warning you.
Two weeks later your machine is so full of viruses/malware/ransomware/..., your machine is almost unusable.
