    Registering ar 15 as E cat pol67x

I am planning on registering my a cat ar15 as E cat. what is the process like? Is it an instant thing where I take my gun in to the police with the form to be approved or is it a lengthy process with long wait for approval?

It's instant, and skipping the stupid questions on the form makes filling it out even faster. pol67x with comments

    Sweet, which questions are skippable?

Everything that's crossed out on that pdf. Only need to fill out personal and gun details, the rest is skippable.

Has anyone ever skipped filling out that portion as advised by Nick Taylor and get told by the AO the form is unacceptable? I'm just curious too.

Its easy to fill it in, I have converted 8 AR's to E, and I write everything, from SR, multi-gun, 3 gun, hunting, practicing, etc etc, and any other legal purpose... fills in the spaces... then you don't need to have an argument about it.
I find keeping my AO happy, my gun life is happy... and I like being happy.
No point in proving a point unless you have to, that's me anyway...

I fill out the same like you advised above for me ecats too when I convert them. But i'm curious like I said. Just like the amended mail order form from Nick Taylor. Its always good to know your arc of fire.

Gee you guys have had it easy M8, i had a prick of a time with one AO in Auckland when going through this process.
I followed their advice and when i turned up with the gun/paper work he cooked off at me big time.
We ended up having a heated discussion at the desk on why i needed the gun at the end of which he begrudgingly signed the form.
The next gun i bought as an E cat and the AO( a different bloke/district) seemed like a good guy.
He approved the form, but then said " I see you have X number of E cats already & we cant justify approving anymore unless you get rid of some"
I know many guys who have way more than me, maybe its my sparkling personality or handsome face they dont like
I dont think i would go through that process again, not worth the hassle

And that, right there, is their plan. Make it difficult/uncomfortable enough that only those that are serious about it will go through the process.

Ask him which part of the arms act allows him to impose limits on the number of E cats someone owns, and ask to get the above in writing. Don't be an easy target. Treat them the same way you'd treat any other bully.

Your reply to the AO should have been... "You sound just like my wife" !
